Rule against sandbaggers

A solution might be to use a players median rating (something similar to the top ten players in a team and use that formula to permit a player to join a tournament. Everyone would have a category. Example a class B player could only join a class B tournament, unless the tournament is an open tournament.
I think your off target. There's a difference between sandbagging and just being worse at faster time controls. If you suspect sandbagging and see a real indication of it, you should report it.
Come on, i saw differences of 600+ points between between rapid and blitz rating, big points drops in a really short period of time, and stuff like that, i just dont buy that, its common sense. Thats why im asking for average rating based tournaments between similar time controls or something like that, something more reliable than the pure raw rating.
for me it is hard to play blitz chess, there are lots of people, who have their tricks and starting moves for this kind of playing. In classical i have time to think about the moves and my rating is better. look at my ratings. You , as a chessplayer, must win your games and learn to play better. Not looking for rules that does not make you better.
Balu, you have 200 points of difference between rapid and blitz, that might be still normal i guess, but i bet you that if you are 1800 in rapid, your blitz rating will be much better than 1200, thats not the case of many sandbaggers playing low rating tournaments. If an average between the next time controls are instrumented, then those players will be more interested in having better ratings and not worst.

And of course, i dont "look for rules" to avoid learning better chess... i ask for a rule that allow players of the same rating play together without being outplayed by much stronger players that should not be granted access to that kind of tournaments.
i still don't get the logic: so a high rated player joins a U tournament by sandbagging. They win. Now they're out of the range. So do they then have to loose a bunch of games to requalify? Why? This sounds stupid.

I strongly agree with njuguna - just play - it's just internet chess. Play because you enjoy playing and quit worrying about the rating.
"who cares its just for fan" exact, learn your opennings and tricks for quick games, and you will win. ( and most time their are some, who are better )
if you dont care, why are you commenting this thread?...

oh! i see...
