FM Kacper Karwowski

I am a FIDE Master based in Poland. I learned to play chess at the age of 5 and fell in love with the game straightaway. I have been teaching chess since 2015. In 2023, after graduating from Warsaw University of Technology, I decided to become a full-time chess coach and opened my own chess school: kacperkarwowski.com

I competed in dozens of Polish Junior Championships and won two medals in classical chess (silver in U10 - 2008 and bronze in U18 - 2016).
I won four medals in Polish Academic Team Championships (gold - 2018 and bronze - 2017, 2022, 2023).
In 2021 I shared 1st place in the Macieja Memorial Blitz Tournament, defeating plenty of GMs and scoring 2564 rating performance.
Founding my chess school inspired me to return to competitive play in 2024, with the goal of becoming a FIDE Master - which I accomplished after just 2 years.

Starting at the age of 17, I had conducted mostly individual lessons, for players of all levels. In 2023, after founding my chess school, I decided to accept many more ambitious students and started teaching in chess clubs, schools and preschools too. My best coaching achievement is raising a junior player from 0 to 2200 FIDE rating (CM title) and into top-5 in the country in his age group.

Extensive materials library: Over the years, I have gathered a lot of useful materials for every part of the game to help my students at all levels.
Individual approach: Even though I have a lot of materials ready to use, I can work on any specific topic my students need.
Good analytical skills: Both visualization and calculation are my strengths (I can play simuls blindfolded!).

I mostly use Lichess (or Chessbase) for chess and Google Meets (or Discord) for communication.
Before the first lesson, I ask students for their most recent OTB games and/or online accounts to check their opening repertoire, playing style, strengths and weaknesses.
After identyfing their needs, we work on them together during the lesson and then I assign a homework related to the topic.
