About me

Hi,
I am Oliver, 20 years old and law student at the university of Cologne.
I learned to play chess in kindergarten at the age of six and have been fascinated by it ever since!
Now I am looking to pass on that fascination (as well as my knowledge ;) ) on to you!

I give lessons in English and in German.

Playing experience

Since joining my first chess club at the age of seven I have been playing chess competitively and been amongst the best in my age group in Germany.

My greatest success was becoming the Under 18 German Champion in 2020.

Further achievements include two silver medals at the German Youth Championships in 2015 and 2019,
5th place at the 32nd Staufer Open in 2020 with a performance rating of 2505
and leading my school team to several 4th places in the German School Team Cup.

I became a Fide Master at the age of 15 and reached my highest rating so far, 2394, at the end of 2020.

Teaching experience

I have been working as chess instructor since the age of 14.
I taught chess classes in my school during my last two years there, helping my school team to success on a national level.
I also worked with individual students from my club.

Other experiences

I spent a year abroad in England, so my English should be quite acceptable ; )

Best skills

The name "KillerAnaconda" stems from my playing style: patiently squeezing my opponents to death. Accordingly, my greatest skill as a player is probably my positional understanding, although I'd consider myself quite well rounded.

As a coach I am very good at breaking down and explaining complex strategic concepts in the middlegame and endgame.
I also have a broad and extensive knowledge of many openings, so I can help you in that area as well.

Teaching methodology

I try to adapt my teaching methods to each student's individual needs and wishes to give them the learning experience that works best for them.
I provide my students with annotated files of the material discussed in the lessons for them to revise on their own.
If requested, I can also give homework.
