I am WFM & FIDE National Instructor Ailen Oriana Mena, 24 years old. Youngest WFM of the Netherlands Antilles, 6 -time National Champion, and 5 time Olympic Team Member.

Currently living in Argentina and studying Architecture.

I represented Venezuela (where I was born) in different international tournaments, such as Centroamericans and Panamericans.

In 2013 I moved to Curaçao (Netherlands Antilles), and achieved some goals, such as:
🏆National Champion for 6 consecutive years (2012-2018)

🏆5 times Netherlands Antilles Olympic Team Member (2014, 2016, 2018) and (2020, 2021 hybrid)
My best tournament was my first Olympiad in Norway 2014, where I scored 7,5/11 points and got my WFM title, becoming the youngest WFM of Curaçao.

My most recent important achievements are:
🥈Runner up in the Women’s Centroamerican and Caribbean Championships in 2018
🏆Winner of the Carifta Championships U-20 in 2019

I have a 2 year experience giving lessons online, in total I have had more than 100 students from all different countries, genders, and ages.

I have a team on Lichess for all my students, where I organise tournaments and simul 2 times a month, that way you can train everything we have learned in the classes by participating in my online tournaments!

✔️My training method includes teaching the players to analyze their own games to understand their thinking and improve on what is failing.

✔️I also dedicate myself to putting together a good repertoire of openings that suits your style of play and with which you feel comfortable. The tactics are part of daily training but you will also get homework on this assigned every week that we will check together at the beginning of each lesson, we will also cover strategy and endgames according to your level and what you are needing to improve, all of this to make you a complete player.

✔️The lesson are very didactic and I like that there is confidence between the students and the coach, so I like to chat also with my students about any psichological issues they might be facing in games, and together with my experience in international tournaments we can come with the solution to fix the problem.

✔️I make the training didactic so that the student does not get bored and can always give his opinion on the topic that we are dealing with, I also include a game per class in which I will be commenting on the moves and way of thinking.

✔️I find it very important to work on the player's intuition as this helps a lot in the rapid and blitz games.

✔️We can always work together as you can suggest specific things that you would like to learn about, and I will prepare that right for the next lesson!

✔️With my tournaments every two weeks, you will have an opportunity to put in practice everything that you learned in the lessons and get the closest experience to a real tournament.

✔️I can also help you to choose the best tournaments OTB for you, and it will include following and availability to answer any questions round by round.
