KRAMNIK LEKO AND BRILLIANCE!

ChessChess PersonalitiesTournament
About the Poem: This is a poem about the game 8 of the world chess championship between Vladimir Kramnik and Peter Leko. There are few interesting points about this game 1) In this game Kramnik played 25 moves and all of these moves were prepared by his team prior to the game 2) Peter Leko had declined an exchange of queens which was a psychological ploy to take Kramnik out of his preparation but the team had also done the work on this line as well 3) After Kramnik’s 25th move Peter Svidler( Member of Kramnik’s team) realizes that Qd3 was winning for black but the engines had not spotted the move and Peter Leko finds Qd3! Over the board! 4) Kramnik went one to say “ A beautiful game that will be remembered in the history of chess” After his loss owing to Leko’s brilliance.

KRAMNIK LEKO AND BRILLIANCE!

Kramnik had decided that he would boldly enter,
And try something brighter,
He decided to take on Leko’s Marshall’s Variation,
To showcase his enormous preparation.

Kramnik’s team had prepared the entire line,
Assuming it was completely fine.
Kramnik had no need to think even for a single move,
But he was unable to safely come through.

Leko outwitted by declining a queen exchange,
Which was a bit strange,
He knew that it was a dangerous proposition,
To enter’s Kramnik’s home preparation.

Leko lashing out with the beautiful Qd3!!,
Which one must agree,
Was a splendid find on the board,
Which earned him the sweet reward.

Kramnik, the sport rightly praised his opponent,
Giving him full credit;
He did not hesitate to confess !(the following)
“A beautiful game that will be remembered in the history of chess”!
