The Deciding Match for the Norway Chess 2023 has just finished!

Hikaru Is the grand winner of the Norway Chess 2023

On June 9, 2023, Hikaru Nakamura as white faced off against Fabiano Caruana in the deciding match for the Norway Chess tournament. The game took a wild turn when Fabi misplayed in the Fried Liver Attack, mistakenly placing his knight on f4. Hikaru was soon able to win a second pawn and utilize his doubled d-pawns to their fullest. In his later posted video, Hikaru stated that he should not have moved his pawn on d2-d4, as then he would have gotten a win without touching his d-pawn. After trading the queens and entering the endgame, Hikaru protected his king from "ghosts" and was able to slowly convert his extra two pawns into a win, as Fabi was not only dead lost, but he was low on time also. After winning this crucial game, Hikaru Nakamura won the Norway Chess 2023, and gained 750,000 Norwegian Krones, that equals about $70,000. As if this was not enough, Hikaru Nakamura also achieved World #2 standing on the rating list.
