Join the Crazyhouse Underground

It is worth your time, believe me

Introduction

This is my attempt to raise awareness of Crazyhouse tournaments that are open to all; the purpose of the team is merely to make the arenas visible on the calendar.

Background

I joined lichess because someone told me it was better than youknowwhodotcom, and that much was immediately apparent. I didn't like chess (I still don't) so I played a bit of 960, and Horde seemed kind of interesting. But when Crazyhouse (or zh) started...my word, what a revelation!
Little by little, I got better and started to learn about the game, the existence of bughouse, and of course whom to learn from (basically anyone who was on FICS). But all too soon, lichess started to update and reduce the number of zh arenas. Eventually this became too much to bear, and after much discussion @blunderman1 made the revival of Hourly Crazyhouse a reality based on an original idea by @sacdatsht.

What's next?

We have reached the milestone of 350 members of the Underground, but still the arenas are doing well if they feature half-a-dozen games. Initially, @skeftomilos and myself set about promoting the idea, running afoul of the rule that lichess (like other platforms) has against pasting links in the chat. @zaraza had the idea of attaching the team so that the tournaments would be visible on the calendar. This is still a problem for people on their mobile phones, but perhaps that will be mended.

This morning it occurred to me that the blog feature seems to feature a few that have, if not gone viral, then garnered many likes -- and perhaps that could translate into increased membership which conveys at least some active participation. In any event, it would be remiss not to take advantage of a promotional channel created and thus endorsed by licess itself.
