Crushing Gambit Series

In the Crushing Gambits Series we are covering off-beat and smashing gambits. In this latest installment, we are covering the Nakhmanson Gambit which is an incredibly aggressive gambit arising out of the Italian Game or Scotch Gambit. If Black is greedy and accepts the piece sacrifice, then they are in for a wild ride. In compensation, White gets a deadly attacks on the black king which is very difficult to survive in a practical game without extensive computer preparation.

Crushing Attack - Example

Here's an example position from a high-level bullet game where Beerdsen enjoyed a crushing attack on the Black king.

The Study - Play the Nakhmanson Gambit like GM Thomas Beerdsen (MeneerMandje) & FM Marco Riehle

The below study is the latest installment of my "Play like..." Interactive Lesson series which can be best enjoyed with the Lichess Tools browser extension installed. The idea of the study is to learn our champions' treatment of the Nakhmanson Gambit with a spaced-repetition philosophy.

This study features a tag-team duo of GM Thomas Beerdsen (MeneerMandje) and FM Marco Riehle (ChessHobbits99). GM Beerdsen is a top 100 bullet player with a peak rating of 3079. We are in good hands. FM Marco Riehle is a strong master (peak blitz rating 2811) who streams with IM Adrian Gschnitzer under the handle ChessHobbits99. The study includes many of Beerdsen's 190+ speed chess games (and 790+ of Riehle's games) that they have played in these lines up to move 20, which were downloaded, merged, and then I separated out the lines.

Here is the study:

LichessTools

To get the most out of this study you should add the LichessTools browser extension. LichessTools allows you to play through all the games/variations in an interactive lesson chapter (rather than just the single main line). So if you decline to add LiChess Tools then you are only playing 10% of the study.
