At one point I thought of an idea that when a pawn reaches the top of the board, it becomes a Queen, thus it gives the pawn "a purpose" to find the divine feminine and transform to perfection. (enlightenment)
By playing chess and studying my responses when winning and losing a game has really taught me a lot. Defeat in chess has been a major ego death for many times. It's almost like a spiritual progress of balance. By observing and with time, the psychological effects of the game balance out and the thoughts becomes more "pure" so to speak. The feelings of winning and losing balances out. This balance and learning echoes in other areas of life as well. Non-reactivity etc.

@NeoLight_101 - certainly, that is one of the most commonly used metaphor, maybe in a future essay will bring down a bunch of metaphors, but focused more on abstract, than a collection or moral teachings this time.

@LouisYuan @NeoLight_101 - like I said, chess is symbolic in nature, and you are free to interpret the meaning as you please, as long as you follow the rules of how the pieces move and when the game ends.
