The Bishop on f5 will be outside the pawn chain when Black pushes e6, there is that to be considered. } 4. Bxc4 e6 5. Nc3 Bb4 6. Qa4+ { This has been a reoccurring theme in many of my games lately, get the Queen out with a tempo and look to harass the general area on a4 or h4 if I was Black. } 6... Nc6 7. Bb5 { Mounting the pressure on c6 and attempting to remove the defender of the Bishop on b4, if Black does nothing to assist then 1. Bxc6 bxc6 2. Qxb4 } 7... Bxc3+ (7... Nf6 8. Bxc6+ bxc6 9. Qxb4) 8. bxc3 Ne7 9. Ba3 { I want to Xray the Rook on f8 if Black castles. } { [%cal Ga3f8] } 9... Qd5 10. Nf3 { Blocking the attack on g2 and also removing a defender from the Knight on e7 which is important. } 10... O-O { Now that the King is no longer defending the e7 Knight, if Bxc6 and Nxc6 then Bxf8 winning the exchange. Taking with the b pawn loses a full pieces as there is no defenders on the e7 Knight after Bxc6. } 11. Bxc6 Qxc6 (11... bxc6 12. Bxe7) (11... Nxc6 12. Bxf8 Rxf8) 12. Qxc6 Nxc6 13. Bxf8 Kxf8 14. Ke2 { An important idea I learned about recently, some people might have castled but being in the endgame a central King is better and it also defends the d4 square from the Bishop. } { [%cal Gf5d3] } 14... Be4 15. Rhd1 h6 16. g3 { I want to eventually move the Knight however it was pinned the the undefended g pawn, pin is broken. } 16... Ke7 17. Rac1 { Initial ideas here are to begin to push the c and d pawns in unison to break through the center, I can't push c4 immediately because I'll give the b4 square to Blacks Knight. } { [%cal Gc3c5,Gc6b4] } 17... Rd8 18. a3 { Defending the b4 square so c4 can be pushed. } (18. c4 Nb4 { I didn't like the idea of Black controlling so many squares in my territory, even though the evaluation is fine it's less comfortable. } { [%cal Gb4a2,Gb4c2,Ge4c2] }) 18... Na5 { Blacks looking for c4 now. } { [%cal Ga5c4] } 19. Nd2 { Putting the Knight to use, attacking and defending. } { [%cal Gd2e4,Gd2c4] } 19... Bg6 20. e4 { I had too many weaknesses on the light squares, playing e4 and f5 if the Bh5+ ever comes will cut some of Blacks distance off. } { [%cal Gg6h5,Gh5e2,Gf2f3] } 20... b5 21. c4 { This position took a little thought, the d pawn is hanging and the e pawn is under attack, however if Black decided to grab the d pawn, White would take on b5 and have an attack on the c7 pawn with check. The best line would have been for Black to take on c4. } 21... Rxd4 (21... bxc4 { It gets pretty sharp from here but White is comfortable none the less. } 22. Ke3 Bh5 23. f3 c5 24. dxc5 f5 25. Rc3 { [%cal Gc3a3,Gc3d3,Gd8d3] } 25... fxe4 26. g4 { While complicated the position favors White since Blacks pawn structure is a mess, and it is harder to defend all the weaknesses on c4 and e4. White has two weak pawns as well but they aren't as easily attacked for the moment since Blacks pieces are tied to defense. } { [%csl Ge4,Gc4] }) 22. cxb5 { [%cal Gc1c7] } 22... Bxe4 23. Rxc7+ { A Rook on the 7th or 2nd rank is deadly, it allows for lateral and rear attacks to the foundation of pawn structures. } { [%cal Gc7a7,Gc7f7] } 23... Kf6 24. Nxe4+ (24. Ke3 { Ke3 is better but leaves more pieces on the board, it would be simpler to head to the late endgame and swap pieces off. }) 24... Rxe4+ 25. Kf3 { There isn't a way to defend the Rook so it must move, notices the a pawn for Black is still hanging. } { [%cal Gf3e4] } 25... Ra4 26. Rxa7 { Black put themselves into a pin, if the Knight moves the Rook in under attack. } { [%cal Ga7a4] } 26... Rxa3+ 27. Kg2 Nc4 { The final mistake, after RxR and NxR the b pawn can't be stopped. } 28. Rxa3 Nxa3 29. b6 { 1-0 Black resigns. } { [%cal Gb6b8] } 1-0
