It is a bit curious, given that I played on the board next to him somewhere in April/ May 2022 and then he was around 2050-2100 rating, yet in the meantime he turned himself in one of the brightest young talents out there. --- In my preparation, I saw that he likes sharp, tactical and aggressive style and I tried to steer the game in a different direction from the very start. } 26... f5? { [%emt 0:26:00] Probably another bad decision while being pressured on the clock and on the board. I was too materialistic here and trying to cling on to my extra pawn, but this creates a lot of weaknesses in my position. In my nervous state, it was probably not smart to make my position even more difficult to play. } (26... g6 { I didn't see that I would lose a pawn after I castled and I was unable to readjust and accept that I probably have to defend the position a pawn down again. } 27. Still, it was probably smarter from the practical perspective - especially since my opponent doesn't yet have THAT good technique - as was demonstrated later in some games in the tournament. ||Of course, the engines gives just a small advantage to White and thinks this is way better than what happened in the game. }) 27. Qe2 { [%emt 0:17:00] I am not 100% sure if this is the most accurate way forward. } (27. Qb3 { Bothered me much more as after } 27... Qe7 { I felt I am in big trouble due to all the pins and such. It is another thing I have noticed in my play - when I am around 20 minutes on the clock and/if when I am under pressure in a tactical position, I sometimes have trouble trying to calm down and calculating to the best of my ability, but instead end up playing too quickly as is the case here. } (31... Qg8# { [%emt 0:36:00] A very painful, but instructive game that highlights some of the bad weaknesses in my own play: A) Being affected by emotions quite a lot during a game - especially when the position that I get out of the opening is unfamiliar to me or when I am under the pressure. B) Playing way too quickly in many critical moments. Somehow during this tournament, it was better compared to usual, but here this move 25..O-O and then the entire sequence from moves 29-34 was played with way too little thinking. C) Not always fully trusting myself and my understanding. D) Not always exerting myself and trying to calculate to the best of my ability, but rather playing on "feeling" - especially problematic when I don't fully trust myself. } 1-0
