Since i feel queen can do better job somewhere on the diagonal c1-h6 than on b2 and starting with d4 makes the most sense for me which opens the room for my queen already and also fights for center. A kingside castling looks already more appealing & likely in this set up, so after d4-c3 already my long range pieces on b1 and c1 feeling good than in c4-Nc3 setup would. But then i have to solve the issue with my knights in the center, which is always a bit of an issue. } { [%clk 0:10:02] } 1... d5 { [%clk 0:09:38] } 2. c3 { [%clk 0:09:46] } 2... Nd6 { [%clk 0:09:30] } 3. f3 { Opens the diagonal for my dark bishop and also intends to play e4 and also restricts the knight on d6 to come e4. My knight on e1 feels bad for a moment but if he can be bit patient, he might get to f3 after a possible exchange on e4. } { [%clk 0:09:40] } 3... f5 { Cuts e4 for now, but then this leaves dark squares (e5-f4-g5) on kingside already a bit juicy for me, so i try to exploit that. } { [%clk 0:09:02] } 4. Nd3 { [%clk 0:09:39] } 4... Nc6 { [%clk 0:08:29] } 5. Qf4 { Putting my queen on the same diagonal with the king for potential tactics and supporting my knight coming to e5. Generally you dont want to bring your queen into the middle of the board so early, but his activity has more pros than cons in this case. Especially after Nc6, my queen feels powerful on f4 and hard to be disturbed soon, as the bishop on b8 is three move away from saying hello to my queen. Neither blacks knights or his pawns cant touch my queen at the moment, so why not? } { [%clk 0:09:33] } 5... Bf7 { [%clk 0:08:27] } 6. h4 { Not only establishing more and more control over dark squares now, such as g5, but also intending to prepare h5-h6 (weakening his control over dark squares even more) and to attack on the queenside as my rook is already on h1, knight potentially coming to e5, queen on f4, bishop on b1 eyeballing the h7, feels right. } { [%clk 0:09:29] } 6... b6 { [%clk 0:08:26] } 7. Ne5 { Now it seems like i winning a pawn as after b6, which leaves knight on c6 undefended, with Ne5 i hit both c6 and f7 and if you dont take on e5 i ll take f7 which forces either Kf7 and losing its right to castle or Nf7 which leaves f5 pawn en prise. And Nd8 here would be too passive. } { [%clk 0:09:06] } 7... Nxe5 { [%clk 0:08:08] } 8. dxe5 { [%clk 0:09:05] } 8... Nc4 { [%clk 0:08:10] } 9. Bxf5 { [%clk 0:09:07] } 9... e6 { [%clk 0:08:11] } 10. Bd3 { [%clk 0:09:05] } 10... c5 { Black has lost a pawn but with c5, he gets to breathe bit now and his pieces gets some activity. } { [%clk 0:08:05] } 11. Bxc4 { Otherwise e5 is hanging. But also im exchanging his best piece. } { [%clk 0:09:01] } 11... dxc4 { [%clk 0:08:07] } 12. Ne3 { [%clk 0:08:35] } 12... b5 { [%clk 0:08:05] } 13. h5 { [%clk 0:08:07] } 13... O-O { Here i had to take few tactical possibilities to take into consideration, such as queen potentially being on e4 hitting both a8 and h7, and Ng4 and potential jumps to f6. } { [%clk 0:07:47] } 14. Ng4 { [%clk 0:07:23] } 14... Bxh5 { This move overlooks the Qe4 and loses material. } { [%clk 0:07:40] } 15. Qe4 { [%clk 0:07:23] } 15... Bxg4 { [%clk 0:07:19] } 16. Qxa8 { [%clk 0:07:08] } 16... Bf5 { Even though i have converted my positional dominance into a material one now, i feel this moment is critical to not to give counter play chances and fall into tactical issues as for now, only my queen is in the game but feels loose on a8, my king feels unsafe being on the same file with his rook and castling any side does not solve the issue as both my kingside and queenside have lots of open spots. These are the tricky positions, which require precision and can easily have twists, if the side with material advantage gets too confident. } { [%clk 0:07:18] } 17. g4 { Hoping to get my queen out first and i felt my king on g2 would feel probably safest in case of potential threats. I was considering something like Bg4 Qe4 Bf5 Qe3 and later Qc5. } { [%clk 0:05:57] } 17... Bg6 { [%clk 0:07:14] } 18. Be3 { [%clk 0:05:22] } 18... Qa6 { Almost trapping my queen.. } { [%clk 0:06:43] } 19. Bxc5 { If i had not this move and Qa7 in case the bishop on b8 moves. } { [%clk 0:05:18] } 19... Bd6 { [%clk 0:06:39] } 20. Qxa7 { [%clk 0:05:12] } 20... Qxa7 { [%clk 0:06:34] } 21. Bxa7 { [%clk 0:05:14] } 21... Bxe5 { [%clk 0:06:36] } 22. a4 { [%clk 0:05:09] } 22... b4 { [%clk 0:06:36] } 23. Bc2 { [%clk 0:05:57] } 27. a5 { [%clk 0:04:37] } 27... Kf7 { [%clk 0:05:53] } 28. Rfc1 { [%clk 0:04:31] } 28... Bb3 { Now the position is already simplified enough for me to convert my material advantage without too much problem. Bishop on b3 taking d1 square from my rook and therefore d file, but thats all it does and thats fine for me, there is h file if not d file! } { [%clk 0:05:54] } 29. a6 { [%clk 0:04:15] } 29... Ra8 { [%clk 0:05:53] } 30. a7 { [%clk 0:04:14] } 30... Bf4 { [%clk 0:05:54] } 31. Rf1 { [%clk 0:03:46] } 31... Be3+ { [%clk 0:05:54] } 32. Kg2 { After exchange on a7, my rook would get very active on a file and i would simply improve my position on kingside with f4-Kf3 even e4. Also after Rook a1, now im the one who is taking squares from his bishop on b3! } { [%clk 0:03:47] } 32... g5 { [%clk 0:05:44] } 33. Rh1 { [%clk 0:03:43] } 33... Kg6 { [%clk 0:05:45] } 34.
