Putting pressure on the d5 square and on the center. if i played g3 then black moving b pawn could cause me some trouble with queen hitting my rook on h1. if i close the diagonal then g3 does not make much sense. So i ll wait for my play on kingside. Moving f4 also does not feel right to me, as i cannot put Nf3 afterwards. So i felt f4 pawn would be bit "naked" there and also felt too commital at this stage. 1.d4 was another alternative, which i did not like so much, because black can reply with 1. ... d5 which control c4 square. And since i want my knight to be on c3, having pawn on c2 could be in the way of developing my queen. I could also play 1.e4 and play f3 later. Moves like 1.Nb3 or 1.Nd3 did not seem logical since such moves cramp my rook or queen. Since the knight on b1 seems easier to develop, it made sense to me play 1.c4 so that i can follow it up with Nc3. } 1... c5 2. Nc3 Nc6 3. Qb1 { Queen already looking at his kingside and can go to more squares from b1, also with Knight on c6, i might wanna go a3, b4-b5 later and queen on b1 supports the idea } 3... h6 { A logical move. Black wants to bring his bishop to h7-b1 square. } 4. f3 { hitting c5 and after Bh7 e4, i ll be still hitting c5, which gives me a tempi } 4... Bh7 5. e4 e6 6. Nb3 { hitting c5 twice, but mainly preparing d4 and opening up the game. } 6... b6 7. d4 cxd4 8. Nxd4 Bc5 { forcing my knight to move from d4 but I dont want any exchanges on g1, so i had to take 8. ... Bc5 into account already before playing d4. Fortunately, i had foreseen that i could go to b5 and prevent exchange on g1 and instead force an exchange on c5. } 9. Ndb5 O-O 10. Bxc5 bxc5 11. Bd3 { Somehow i did not like 11. Nd6 Nd6 12. Rd6 Qb8 It allows him to bring queen into game with tempi after, i can protect it with 13. Qd1 and hitting d7 pawn but black has 13. ... a6 14. Na3 Qxb2 and if i retreat with rook after 12. ... Qb8, now black has completed his developement and can play d5 while my king is still in the center and e4 pawn is pinned by the bishop on h7. So i wanted to close the pin with 11. Bd3 and prepare kingside castle. } 11... a6 12. Na3 Nb4 13. O-O Ne7 14. Qc1 { Moving away from bishops diagonal on h7, because now d5 is coming. } 14... d5 { I was mainly expecting taking on d3 first. 14. ... Nd3 15. Rd3 d5 16. cd5 cd5 17.Qf4 and either d4 or if 17... de4 18. Rd8 and 19.fxe4 next opening up f file and hitting on f7. Still last few moves i felt bit uncomfortable with my position but could not tell where it went wrong. } 15. cxd5 exd5 16. Bb1 { This releases the tension of my position a bit. } 16... d4 { Now defending c5 wont be easy. d4 also lets control of c4, to which i can bring my knight from a3 and blockade c-pawn. } 17. Na4 Rc8 { This loses an exchange but i also dont know how to defend c5. If black plays 17...Qa7 with the idea of 18...Rc8 after 18. Nc5, i can take c5 with queen 18.Qc5 } 18. Nb6 Qa7 19. Nxc8 Rxc8 20. Nc4 Nbc6 21. a3 { Time to bring my bishop into much more useful diagonal, while his bishop on h7 does not contribute much. } 21... Qc7 22. Ba2 { Putting pressure on f7, while rook is on c8. } 22... Ng6 23. Nd2 Nge5 24. Qxc5 Qd8 25. Qd5 Qh4 26. Nc4 { Once i can exchange few more pieces, i ll be simply exchange up without any counter play for black. } 26... Rd8 27. Qc5 Re8 28. Nd6 Rd8 29. f4 Ng4 30. Bxf7+ Kh8 31. h3 Rxd6 32. Qxd6 Ne7 33. Qd8+ Bg8 34. Bxg8 Nxg8 35. Qxh4 { 1-0 Black resigns. } 1-0
