2020 RKWC recap

Hello everyone!
This forum post features both a quick summary of the 2020 RKWC as well as a quick look at 2021.

The 2020 Racing Kings World Cup was played between June 29 and October 4, featuring 34 players in a double-elimination tournament bracket. The final match was played on October 4, 13:00 UTC (lichess.org/event/W0R0Etfx) between the upper bracket winner and defending champion @RoyalManiac and @sriramprasad, who had scored an impressive 5 match win streak in the lower bracket after conceding a loss in round 3.

The format of the 2020 final was a best-of-20, resulting in a match that took over two hours and ended with a score of 11-4 in favour of @RoyalManiac.

With the chapter of 2020 coming to an end, it's time to look at next year. In line with the timing of the previous editions, it would make sense for the 2021 RKWC registrations to be open between June 1 and June 27 - though of course nothing has yet been decided. The double-elimination bracket format will remain, but changes in TD's and rules are still to be decided. We hope to see you all again next year!
