The weakness of the f2/f7 squares is the topic of this thread.
Every since the invention of modern chess it has been noted that the f2/f7 squares are weak. They are only guarded by the King in the initial position. In the open game (i.e. 1.e4 e5) either side may attempt an attack on those squares. Many books devote a chapter or section to this theme. An example is "Your First Chess Games" by A.J. Gillam, 1993.
