DCC Quarantine Blitz

DCC $hut-in $howdown - $100 Prize fund/Free Entry

Next Tuesday’s blitz tournament will be a special one: there will be a $100 guaranteed prize fund and FREE entry.

With all the disappointing news lately, I figure I’d do something nice out of the kindness of my cold, black heart and donate next week’s prize fund (also, managing entry fees for an online tournament is kind of a pain in the butt).

Tournament link: lichess.org/tournament/jDi6Fn6G
Duration: 90 minutes
Date/time: 3/24, 8pm

Prizes:
1st - $50
2nd - $30
3rd - $10
U1900 (lichess rating) with highest tournament points - $10

Rules and Eligibility (Please read!):

This tournament will only be open to lichess members who have joined the Denver Chess Club team. So please join the team if you haven’t: lichess.org/team/denver-chess-club

To be eligible for a prize, you have to meet the above prize criteria but also have attended at least one DCC in-person event. (this is to prevent internet randos from swooping in and hijacking the tournament)

Just like with any live chess tournament, absolutely no cheating or assistance of any kind while playing - this includes consulting books, having a friend telling you the moves, using a chess computer/engine, etc. Lichess has a pretty great cheating detection algorithm. If you feel someone was cheating during your game please report it to me asap.

If you don’t meet the above criteria/break the rules but still manage to play in the tournament, your prize will be deferred to the next eligible person.

Prizes will be paid out via Paypal or Venmo (whichever is preferred), so please have either of these online payment options set up.

If you are a winner, you can choose to donate your prize to the prize fund for the next tournament where we have prizes. Or, even if you aren’t a winner and just want to donate to the prize fund in general, please let me know.

Any questions, please message me on here.

Thanks all! We shall persevere through online chess! <3

Because I've heard mixed, but equal feedback on the time control, I've decided as a compromise to try to make everyone happy (not really possible, but I'll try!) that we will do alternating weeks of 5+0 and 3+0. So, this week, we're back to 5+0.
