An announcement to all players:
Thank you to all of you for cooperating so well as a group throughout the duration of this tournament so far!
Round 2 matches have now almost all been completed, with the exception of just 2 matches which have been granted one week extensions to be completed by 3rd May.
We are now moving towards Round 3 matches. The tournament guideline for Round 3 is to have matches scheduled by 3rd May with the aim of having them completed by 10th May: https://lichess.org/forum/team-crazyhouse-world-championship/schedule-for-32-crazyhouse-world-championship-2020
It should be noted that due to the natural structure of a Double Elimination Knockout, from this round onwards there are more rounds to play through in the lower bracket (group B players who have lost one match) in order to reach the Candidates Stage, relative to the upper bracket (group A players who are still undefeated).
This means that:
- Players in Group A who lose in Round 3 will need to wait for Group B results to finish and will only join group B in Round 5.
- Players in Group A who lose in Round 4 will need to wait for Group B results to finish and will only join group B in Round 7.
In short, this simply means that each player should continue to play one match every two weeks as usual so far. However, from here if a player loses in Group A they will have a break for a number of weeks depending on the round in which the loss occurs. This notice is being posted well in advance so that players are aware of expected situations where they may need to wait longer than usual to play their next match.
Play hard and good luck in your upcoming CWC matches!
