Crazyhouse FEN

Comparison between Winboard and Lichess crazyhouse FEN.
Promoted piece is identified by a <piece letter, N, B ...> followed by ~.
The Q~ and n~ in the example FEN below are the promoted pieces.
Upper case letter is for white while lower case letter is for black.
Both interfaces have the same notation for promoted pieces,
but they differ in off-board pieces or pieces in pocket notation.

pychess gui uses on-hand fen format similar to Lichess.

does crazyhouse FEN support promoted queens that should turn into pawns once they are captured?

Yes, something like below. That Q~ and the n~ are the pawn promoted pieces. Lichess and Winboard supported this. See also post #1.
