CANDIDATES!

Hi everybody!
I did create this post to thank you guys for taking part to the tournament with enthusiasm and to congratulate with the first 4 Candidates!

4 more players will join from the losers bracket, where many strong players are still in contention, the fun isn't over yet!
Hopefully in 2 weeks and a half, the Candidates will begin.
I also wanted to make a survey: in many strong tournaments the organizer selects a strong player as a wildcard (for example in the chess Candidates, but also in other events). Would you like me to insert a wildcard into the Candidates? Ofc the wildcard should have some requirements such as a high rating (2200+?) and of course in the next editions the wildcard could be someone who performed very well in the previous WC without winning. Would you agree on a wildcard? I don't want to spread the idea of a player getting in "easily" without passing through the elimination but I think a wildcard could be good to get an even stronger event. So please comment in this thread saying if you would like a wildcard or not, and which requirements do you find appropriate.

I'm fine with a wildcard. For this year I vote that you let the others vote who they think is deserving in the losers bracket that didn't make it. A lot of good names there that just won't be able to play and I'm sure they can win at least 3 or more points for sure.

For next year and years to come though I vote you have the Candidate runner up have a spot in the next candidates. That is assuming they have an interest in it still and show they still belong

I know we are missing alot of good players and I hope more of them join for next years championship

(my suggestion as a wildcard would probably be bookerd as unfortunately he's out of the tournament just cause of a misunderstanding: he wrote "I am in" but he was muted so nobody could actually see that. Since he's a good enough player, he might well be a wildcard. I am also opened to other suggestions though)

I am not asking for names, just for requirements you think a wildcard should have, if you do. But that's optional

A strong player + well known

I don't think the wild card system is fair to be honest. You are putting through a player, who has not been in the whole World Cup, and you are giving him a chance at the titled by putting him in the Candidates. He hasn't gone 3 rounds, where he could have been eliminated (Yes, some strong players have lost, in the winners bracket, in the second and third round). I don't know if it is just me, but I don't consider it to be fair to the other players who have battled ferociously to get where they are.
