Sometimes I know a loss is inevitable. I try to resign. Nothing happens!
The flag turns orange, then goes back to gray and we are playing again.
Any suggestions?

You can set single or double click (confirm) for this in your preferences.
Preferences -> Game behavior -> Confirm resignation and draw offers -> Yes/No
A button that needs to be pressed twice is a bad user interface design. I think this design is part of the reason for the problem with people leaving games without resigning.
@Youcandothis I don't actually know why the double-click is needed,but it springs to mind that it might be there to safeguard against an accidental click for whatever reason.

@bunyip @TeamBEAST @noodledmynoodle There could be better solutions than a double click button. A confirm dialog box would be a way that correspond more to what people are used to.
Double click isn't ideal; on some layouts the resign button is near the back/forward buttons. If you're looking at the board and not the buttons you can miss and and resign by mistake. Some sort of focus-stealing "are you sure?" dialogue - similar to how move confirmation is currently handled - would fix both the "why can't I resign" and "damn, I was winning then" problems.
