Liberalism and Conservatism

"If you don't vote in American elections you have no right to express an opinion" <- stupidest statement in this thread so far. Pretty similar in stupidity to "if you don't like it, leave the country" or "this is America, speak English!!!".

The Electoral College may well be the stupidest voting system of any modern democracy. People who feel sufficiently disenfranchised to refrain from voting do NOT "have no right to express an opinion".

Yes that is correct and you do not get to commit if your not from USA which your not. It is every countries right to do as they please.
And you know all about stupid by the way Canada has two official languages English and French the, US has no official language
If you truly do not like it (America) you are free to go to Siberia. But that would be bad for Siberia.
@Stephenson Do you actually want to insist on that bullshit? Because that truly is antidemocratic, tyrannic and insane. This thread started off as a sensible discussion but now you seemingly ran out of arguments and want to end the discussion by trying to deprive me of my right to speak.
@draconicfae the electoral college is designed to give states more power, in other words, to protect State's Rights. @Stephenson, you definitely have the right to express an opinion, even if you didn't vote.
@GBA87 The State's Rights are protect by the Senate: 2 senators per State is enough to secure the right of every state. But the Electoral College was invented in the 18th century when it was helpful. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electoral_College_(United_States)#Background But in this day and age it isn't needed anymore. The electoral principles for a democratic election are: general, secret, direct, free and equal. But the Electoral College is a violation of the last principle. The vote of a Californian hasn't the same effect as the vote of a voter in Wyoming. The only reason it still exists is that Republicans would lose many elections. Take for example the last six presidential elections: They were won by Clinton, Bush, Bush, Obama, Obama, Trump. But if you look at the popular vote they would have been won by: Clinton, Al Gore, Bush, Obama, Obama, Clinton. That means that the Republicans have presidents that weren't elected by the majority of the voters.
What do you mean "it isn't needed anymore"? That's just false! And who decides what the principles for a democratic election are?
The principles of a democratic election are what makes the election democratic. The electoral college isn't needed anymore: Just take the popular vote.
We aren't a true democracy... we are a representative democracy, where the people themselves do not make decisions IN GOVT.
That's radical democracy but representative democracy still requires democratic elections.
