How Far Would You Go?

According to a random comment, the 2016 spring lichess marathon ended at around 3 A.M. in Turkey. If this is true, it means that BahadirOzen woke up at 3 A.M. to play the whole tournament. Would you do this if you thought you had a chance of winning? What if you knew you would not win anyway? What if you were a 2700+ player good enough to win despite sleeping in?
Note: I would not do it, probably not even if I though myself good enough to win.
Even if I was guaranteed to win, I wouldn't do it.
1) Chess just important to me.
2) The adverse effects to health is no worth it.
3) I have many more important things to do than to play a game.
If I were rated over 2700, I wouldn't waste time playing tournaments here for "atta boys" and a pat on the back...

I would play OTB where I have a chance and get appearance fees... Unless, of course, I couldn't (engine, engine #9) back up my lichess rating OTB...
Unfortunately none of you will ever be rated over 2700. In order to be world class at anything it has to become of a part of you such that waking up once at 3am is something you look forward to in order to play in this tournament. If anyone disagrees that they can be be world class without this mentality show me someone who is top 100 in the world that isn't dedicated.

PS waking up early once does not have permanent health effects unless you are trying to learn/memorize something in that moment.

There are people on this site rated over 2700. If you just referencing the posters, then your post is just a useless comment.
Disregarding time zone differences, why would you awaken at 3am for a tournament? As you stated, learning this early or just before the game is bad for the memory (although not bad for your health).
I would absolutely stay up late or get up early for a tournament with prize money I had a shot at winning. Making money sounds good for my health even if getting up early doesn't. :P
@jonesmh I am confused by "There are people on this site rated over 2700. If you just referencing the posters, then your post is just a useless comment." The way I read it doesn't refer to what I am talking about.

I am saying waking up at 3am to compete is a mentality you must have to be a winner at the highest level. Since none of the commentators above me said they would they don't have the mentality to be a winner. Therefore they would never be a 2700 because they choose not to use it.

It's like if you said "If I had a superpower I would do this" but everyone has a superpower or two they just choose not to use it. Do you see where I am mentioning their hypocrisy.
@Bobkingmen3
I understand you equating the effort with the outcome, however your comment sounds like you're belittling them.

None of the comments above yours states that they are lazy and/or ambitious. Your remark may be interpreted as condescending.

There are three very famous top players who claim to not have this mentality, by no studying: Morphy, Capablanca, and Reshevsky.
