Weekend classical tournaments please !

I have noticed that:

- Weekly/monthly/yearly classical tournaments always happen on Fridays
- They all start around 3 and 5 PM GMT, which is within business hours for the entire western hemisphere.
- We are not allowed to create classical tournaments.

So like me, I believe half of the world is deprived from any possibility of attending to a full classical tournaments... How can we create more opportunity ?

Any suggestions please?

Howe about changing the scheduled tournaments so that some occur during the weekend ?

EvilChess, I like this idea as well. I think that until they do this, we would have to create private tournaments. In those, you can make longer time controls. If we had enough people, we could make a group to schedule longer arena tournaments and share the password within the group.
I would also mention lichess4545.com, but I see you are already part of that group :)

While I lack an opinion on the official tournament schedule, I'll propose increasing base and increment values for custom tournaments (although adding too many options would overwhelm users and clutter the UI).

why not put a reference to lichess4545.com on the main page of lichess? I understand that you are not going to add other types of tournament (swiss etc ..) but at least let everyone know about this possibility. For example, I met him by chance.

@mistercoffee and @Dharaig_88 , thanks for reminding about lichess4545.com. But those are externally managed tournaments relying on manual scheduling and registration of each individual lichess game. That's no so fun.

The thing is that Lichess UI does not allow us to create a public classical tournament. Maximum time control allowed is 7+2, which barely fits into Rapid category. Unless you create a *pirvate* tournament, which aren't published in the tournament page, so the big mass doesn't get to know about it. Example, which does not show up on tournament page:

So... I really vote for pre-scheduled saturday and sunday classical tournaments.

I sought input from other devs:
"tournament TCs slower than 7+2 make no sense when you only have time to play 2 or 3 games during a tournament."

(and while it is possible to create 2-hour tournaments, these are uncommon)

Did they say anything about Saturday/Sunday scheduling possibly?
