Tactics trainer proposal

It would be a good idea if the tactics trainer allowed users to choose the difficulty of the puzzles.
Sometimes a player may be tired and wants to have fun with some easy puzzles.
At a different day , players may wish to try some gm level tactics , just for the challenge.
Or they may want to proceed gradually , from easier to more difficult ones.
The way it works now , a 2250 puzzle can be followed by an 1800.This is not the right way to make progress in tactics.
Agreed. Good idea. Always thought hiding the rating is a bit silly too. Don't really see the point. I want to know what I'm up against.
Probably easiest development wise just to show the rating then allow you to skip a puzzle if it is too high/low rated.
This is a good idea, but if it is to be implemented then there should still be an *option* to go back to the current system. The current system works for a lot of people, a lot of the time (including myself, of course). The fact is, in a real game, you don't know what "level" you should be looking out for; your goal should just be to find the best move you can find in each given position, no matter who you're playing against.

I guess one could argue that the tactics puzzles should train you to spot tactical patterns etc., and that at the moment it might feel a bit more like "calculation practice". But calculation practice is also useful (arguably more so, if indeed there is a difference).
Logical and easy implemented change to lichess tactics.
With puzzles, we locate the best combination, to gain a material advantage. With games, it can be to gain a strategic positional advantage.

Repetitions is what helps learn and memorize tactical combinations. If the puzzles are mixed, there is no repetition, it becomes more of a test of our present tactical skill. To hone a skill, it needs repetition.

The lichess.org/practice section needs at least a few more different tactical names, like: Windmill, decoy, deflections, attractions and moves like the Alekine's gun (R+R+Q).

I liked the original opening trainer, it helped enforce principles of play. I hope there will be an opening trainer soon.

Having the captcha as a section to practice one move checkmates would have been fun to have.

I like the present trainer as is. Today after trying to solve a puzzle I turn on the local analyzer switch, I noticed the analysis results changes the size of the right window frame and moves the directional arrows at the bottom of the window too. Now that's a bug to fix, but I do not know how.
@Toscani: Repetition, but of what? Surely you don't just want to "solve" the same position multiple times? I can only imagine that you mean "repetition of tactical motifs", but this just comes from doing lots and lots of tactics. You don't want to repeat [the same position in which the windmill tactic occurs], you want to repeat [solving windmill tactics in lots of different positions]. The skill you want to train is not [spotting that a windmill tactic is available and good in *this* position], but rather [spotting *when* a windmill tactic is available and good], and I don't think it is possible to train oneself in this way aside from "doing lots and lots of tactics and trying to continually remind oneself to be on the look out for windmill tactics". The same applies, of course, to other kinds of tactics (distraction, obstruction, etc.).
