Strong players banned for cheating

Dear lichess,

in the last few months, I‘ve seen a lot more very strong players, even titled players getting banned. I won‘t talk about any specific case here because that‘s not my task, but I really wonder why some players which are obviously cheating are still not banned, while titled players get banned for games with completely inconsistent move times and most of the time also inaccuracies and mistakes. For example, one player told me in private chat he was cheating in a game against me in German and I reported him, but he‘s still not banned. A strong banned player I know had a look into the algorithm and told me changing your style of playing will mark you as suspect. Do I have to be afraid of practising now, getting new ideas, playing them on the board? Do I have to be afraid when winning a game against a higher rated player, just because they are a GM? I really love lichess, but in the last months, I‘ve been wondering about the cheating politics, because in that way, players will more likely leave lichess because they are afraid of getting banned/ getting banned for no reason. I don‘t think that‘s the right way to attract lichess for more stronger players.
Interesting.....
I see
Every report a mod see so it should take time first they have analyse the games then discuss to ban then ban
The cheaters first play as anomonuos to see it they can cheat then if it works they sign and cheat then the mods ban them and let say I see many youtube videos cheating in lichess.org
This ping makes mods alert to ban that player.
But if they are like an tilted player who does not want to reveal to other players that he is a tilted player they tell lichess about this with prof then lichess not ban
This is I think that all
I completely agree with your statement. I am also afraid to get banned because I have also won against much stronger players. I have already played games which were completely fine. Concerning the Banning-Behaviour, I can't understand Lichess because they are banning players who are used to play well and you can expect from them that they are going to play well. I think it also would be stupid to cheat if you have verified your account with your Fide-title because Lichess knows who you are. There are so many players who just can't play chess/ aren't verified even if they have a Fide-title. The problem is that there are anonymous users and its hard to find out their identity. I have seen a player who was getting banned because he played some draws and Lichess thought he makes sandbagging. I would wish that Lichess tells the user in person how you have offended the terms of use of Lichess.
I have also seen YouTube-Videos of players who have cheated intentionally and these players didn't get banned, so the algorithms of Lichess have somehow a gap. I found it terrifying.
@SamAnyayG But there are also players who can play well and then there are players who play the opening themselves and then use the engine in the middlegame.
If someone posts some nonsensical story about how you can banned for no valid reason, and you believe them, and get worried that's not the fault of LiChess.

You don't have to believe every story you read on the internet.

Very rich professional athletes, who would be top 20 in the world without cheating, choose to risk their health and use drugs to cheat.

Why is it so hard to believe that a chess player might cheat just because they're in the top 1000 of chess players?
Its like the case with Elisabeth Päthz, she didn't cheat, her account has been hacked and she said that she didn't cheat.
