Some time ago I was banned for rating deflation. No direct cheating, mainly it was about giving a handicap to opponent and then trying to win, experimenting with openings, etc. By the way, the ratings are close to my real level of play anyway. Bad at bullet, better at longer time controls.
In response to my appeal lichess said that they allow me to create another final account and let them know the email. But the problem is that I don't want to use any other email rather than my primary one. And I don't want to create additional accounts. This account is important as a history for me.
Probably it would be a good option for lichess to setup time-based ban. And logging all violations (including the type of violation) in the player profile.
How it could work:
If a user violates some rule, he/she gets a ban for some weeks or months depending on the violation. When the time passes, the user is allowed to play in tournaments again. On repeated violation a permanent ban is executed.
Playing with the same banned opponents again and again, I see that I'm not the only one who doesn't want to throw my banned account away.
