According to modern theory backed up by engine analysis black can hold the position. However, on amateur level I doubt that they would be able to find the right moves, because they are bad at calculating and tactics.
So this sac is unclear on amateur level. Also most people will switch to Na5 instead of Nxd5 as soon as they loose a bunch of games with Nxd5.
I would never go for the objectively better d4 in blitz/bullet games. Nxf7 is just more fun to play.

you know, it is hard to find the right offensive moves for white after N.f7 but you can have a solid strategy after Qf3!! instead
