Ettiquette re: take-backs and offering draws

In casual games? I'm pretty loose with them. If my opponent made a mistake that ruins an interesting position (e.g. gave up a back rank mate), I sometimes even ask him to take it back. People have done that for me, too.

In rated games, never. Not even for mouse slips. I consider clicking on the right square to be part of the game. If you consider accurate clicking to be worth less than the extra half second per move it takes, that is the risk you run. Somebody who has the gall to ask to take a move back in a game that counts will not show good sportsmanship and does not deserve the queen that he left undefended.

Also, if you ask for a takeback on the last move of a mate in 4, I will deny your request. That happened to me once.
Why ruin a good game for a super obvious mouse slip? Other then that no.
I agree with GMScuzzBall, I would never allow a takeback for a bad move as I feel surely that defeats the whole point of playing chess, that and its the mistakes you make that through analysis improve your play, but if its a clear case of having accidentally clicked on the wrong square then I thik its a great idea, personally I play quite a lot on my phone and pressing the wrong square is quite easily done.
As some here pointed out, mouse slip takebacks are perfectly fine and in my view granting them is part of good manners. But if you play a worse rated opponent and you make a mouse slip, it's pretty tempting for this player to decline the takeback request. I had this recently and, yes, as one predecessor stated, it felt pretty good to beat him anyways.
@teerdurchzogen it does feel pretty good fighting back from a mouse slip being denied the take back only then have them want a take back later in the game when they blunder
I gave my pov already but for those interested there's a movie called Zatoichi and the Chess Expert from 1965 about two samurai playing chess. Should be free on you tube (get adblocker plus first) Take backs issue comes up.^^
If you don't allow a take-back for obvious slip/glitch, you are obviously scared and glad they slipped.

I run into great people here. I have shitty hawaiian internet and use starbucks internet (which sucks), and it constantly cuts out. Some people +15 me time, some people even resign in lost position when i'm lagging out or disconnecting. Lichess is great <3
If you allow take-backs you obviously are as worthless as your opponent.
In an OTB game take-backs are not allowed
In the Old West, Indians would often settle disagreements between tribes by playing a friendly game of chess while smoking a peace pipe. But if someone asked for a take back at any point, he would be readily scalped with no hesitation.
If you are interested in chess just take back when your opponent do a obvious mouse slip. I want to win because I m better player, not because my opponent's hand is dumb.,
If you are interested in points then never allow a takeback no matter what. You always can tell lies to yourself like "putting a piece on the proper square is part of the game".
