My 10,000th Game on Lichess.org

It came, and went. There she be: The 10,000th time I pushed the seek game button and got matched... 97% of the games were 5 0. Well.. I lost. Isn't that just a hum-dinger. Thanks for putting the site together @thibault.

@DrHack Do you think the 10,000 rule a reality? That if you play 10K games you automatically become an expert? How do you train?

It's my target too, but my games are crappy! Full of blunders!! Especially when I try a new opening.
@billy_ombima It is only natural that when you try a new opening you make blunders, because you are unfamiliar with the positions that arise and because you only learn some of the possible moves. The reply differs from player to player. Nevertheless, you should keep on working the openong and you will, at some point, become an expert with that.

As far as the pule about the 10K games, I think that it is not necessairy to play 10K games to be considered expert. Just play decent chess and have a win rate more that 50% and that's it.
Actually.. on further inspection. Bullet doesn't count, so I still have 700 some games to go.
congratulations!

what have you liked about lichess? i'm a new user here.... it seems pretty nice. not too hard to get a game up, although there are significantly fewer players than on some other sites.

i'm finally improving on my captchas!!! all you do is see who mates who, and simply move the queen.......... works most of the time...
There are different ways of playing 10.000 games.
If you play them only for the fun of it you will pick up a lot of knowledge and experience.
You will have an internal database filled with tactical pattern recognition that kicks into gear every time something similar shows up in your games, is that enough to reach expert..no i dont think so.
You could also after every session analyze you games briefly slowly improving your openings and also find hidden tactics.
This way you would turbo charge your learning curve, playing and analyzing your own games is a strong combo.
