Irish Chess Union gives massive rating boost to all Irish chess players

> New players will continue to enter tournaments with new ratings of 700 and they will deflate the average ratings back down again.
Is it really the case? If they transformed the ratings to match FIDE, it would rather make sense to introduce the same floor as well so that the ratings are likely to stay at levels similar to FIDE.

At least they took an action. The Czech federation only now realized that many practices and even regulations are based on an assumption that national and FIDE ratings approximately match each other and can be mixed (e.g. using national rating for Czech players and FIDE for foreign when ordering players in a starting list of a tournament or for limits of tournament sections). Since April these do not work well at all, obviously. So only now the committee started discussing what can be done to address this problem even if the FIDE change was announced more than 4 months in advance.
Same rating boost was done to Belgian national ratings in April for same reason.

However we see now already that this change didn't help much and in fact created new problems.

Some people which were rated for many years are now getting below the minimum-floor and become unrated. Differences between Western and other countries is not solved. Still no solution to tournaments with many underrated players.

Unlike FIDE, the ICU gives all players a rating, even after a single rated game (although this rating is provisional). For this reason, there is no rating floor and I have seen players in the database with ratings below 100. It seems that because they want to include everyone, they don't have a rating floor.
I see. Then I'm afraid it would be futile to try to keep the two rating scales aligned. Which is perfectly fine, though, as long as you don't mix them together.
A clever move with a pinch of stupidity

They left the starting rating at 700. Oh my God! I was about to cry but then I thought that I don't live in Scotland. Don't worry my federation etc are stupid too :)

It is very demeaning when a government makes moral choices for there slaves.
