Quitting games in losing possition

I'm having this in almost every game,when my opponent is about to lose,he/she quits the game! Why? I mean...there is a resign button,right!
Letting the time run down is automatically detected by lichess and if it becomes a pattern, they might get temporary banned from playing games and the duration of their "playban" increases with each infraction. :<

Please dont not worry much about it - and I guess it is a coincidence that you have experienced that several times in the row.
Sorry that they dont resign and you have to wait - usually it does not happen "that" often.
You are getting your win and your points after all :-)
@anytimer my advice:

1) if it's a long game, like guy is letting time run in lost position and still got like 10 min, resign by yourself and move on to next game with some more fair individual, it is the most efficient way for You
2) if it's a short game, just go to make some tea and when You return You will see that You lost on time ha ha... yeap there are some people who do wait in lost position so 2 seconds before time ends they are making move and expecting You are not in front of pc, so Your time starts to run

Conclusion: if You can wait, just wait. If You can't wait, just resign and move on, the only thing You lose is rating points, which are useless anyway. Or You won't win in some virtual internet tournament, like who cares literally. Enjoy chess, not the points.
> resign by yourself and move on to next game
please do not

If I recall correctly, you can start another game when it's your opponent's move.
resigning can be pretty practical if you just want to move on to another game quickly, but i think it contributes to lessen the accuracy of the lichess rating as a measure of chess skills. so if you resign, at least report him, so lichess can get to know what happened.
Similar happened to me once in a long classic game but since then I've played correspondence games instead. :)
