Options for takeback in preferences

@mdinnerspace
"This can only be interpreted to mean that when your clock is over a given time, meaning the closer to the end of the game when time is short; would the setting allow for a take back request."

I interpret it as the opposite of that. as in "only when my clock has more than (for example) 1 minute" in other words, there is "over" one minute left.
No one is forced to give takebacks, if u have them on then u get2 choose. No reason not to give yourself that choice.
@Oscillations and @GBA87

Once I was very close to mate in my last seconds, and my opponent requested takeback (for no reason) and I had a connection gap immediately, and lost the game. That may have been just a huge coincidence, but as I said in OP: "it could be tricky if I'm willing to accept a draw offer in time trouble and they misleadingly request takeback so I don't have time to read and end up flagging soon after hitting accept."

So, yeah, I mean the options could be related to how much time you have on the clock. It also makes sense that your opponent isn't able to send a takeback request once they are in severe time trouble -- precision is part of the game here.

#10 @mdinnerspace got it the wrong way.

My current suggestion is:

Just like there's autodraw option when short on clock:
- Make it an option to disable takeback request when short on time.
- Also make it an option to autoqueen ONLY when short on time.

That seems easy to the common user, because each issue will have similar settings to choose from, for similar reasons: you don't wanna lose time when short on time, nor should be able to abuse those features against an opponent in time trouble.
@Paradise_Pete ....Possibly that was the intent. Why I suggested a better wording as it could be interpreted either way, with your explanation.
Take back requests and the clock does not stop. Most times they are obvious, but one may need to question what the intended move was. Most of the time a piece drops a square short, or the intention was to castle. Too often, after take backs are granted, players move a different piece, violating the trust given. Therefor, many simply turn it off for all rated games.
U dont have to respond 2 takebacks. Just ignore them.
@GBA87
Under time pressure, you may not have time to tell apart a takeback request from a draw offer. That's when you could flag when you think you are accepting a draw offer. I keep repeating this point here.

In fact, I've accidentally accepted draw once, assuming they were requesting takeback. But in that case it was my fault not paying attention.
Probably „takebacks“ are included in the secret USCF rules. Because nobody knows them exactly people raise this topic frequently.
