History of chess

Do you think that back then the king on the chessboard was very powerful? Because kings were powerful back then. ( If I we’re a king back then I would modify the chess rules such that you have to lose all your pieces you lose the game, to encourage my soldiers that if I die there is still hope to win the war. )
In shatranj, from which chess originated, the king was arguably the second most powerful piece, as it was the only piece that could capture both in a straight line and diagonally (both the queen and the bishop were significantly more powerful)
The game of chess originated in northern India in the 6th century AD and spread to Persia. When the Arabs conquered Persia, chess was taken up by the Muslim world and subsequently, through the Moorish conquest of Spain, spread to Southern Europe
