Sports and sturtups companies? C'mon, luck means a lot there, we all know better. You can score a goal just because wind helped, or you can see your company ruined because stock exchange went berserk.
You always need luck, but in chess. When you sit at the board it's only one's wit against the other's. It's exactly what we love in it: beauty and cleverness without intervention of fate.
So, let's leave luck out of the picture and say 'may the best win' instead.

Just seems like a bad idea to automate some kind of response like that on general principles. Leaving something to weak or non-existent AI just seems error prone. It's a meaningless gesture when it is simply the output of a bot and not something conscious and heartfelt that has the attention of a conscious sentient being behind it. Things like that tend to get annoying pretty quickly, like animated GIFs.

Congratulating to a win is something you do in every sport

That's chess, finally, and that is NOT luck: it's their wit, or lack of it. So, again, you wish me good luck and you are in fact wishing yourself to blunder. I don't want to play with people who wish to play bad chess and are not even aware of their own nonsense.

It's all the same, that's not chess, it's an accident. 'May I have an accident', that's what you are wishing. It's not sport at all.

How is it narcissistic to say ggwp upon draw or defeat??? How can complimenting your opponent be narcissistic? Seems like you dont even know what it means!

You mix that up with the ppl saying it after they won due to titanic blunder of opponent or when they flag someone down 5 pieces with 1second left on clock, those are the times you might wanna wait for the other guy to go first

€dit: when we played team sports as kids we always had to say GG to the enemy team and when you were starting out you sometimes thought „what’s this walk of shame all about?“ (our team was terrible so 9/10 times it was exactly that). But after a while the humble and encouraging reactions and expressions of the other players made me realize what it’s all about, coz the stronger the enemy team the more humble and respectful they were after a win. Congratulating your opponent to a win is part of chess and any other sport.

@MarkIorio BRUH THERE'S LITERALLY A WORD FOR "ACCIDENT" IN CHESS ITS CALLED A "BLUNDER". AND ACCIDENTS ARE LUCK OK WHAT IF SOMEONE HAS SHAKY FINGERS OR JUST GOT SHOVED BY SOMEONE? NO MATTER WHAT U SAY, ACCIDENTS ARE PART OF OUR LIFE, AND THEREFORE ACCIDENTS IN CHESS SHOULD BE PART OF CHESS!!!! saying that blunders aren't part of chess is basically saying if u burnt ur toast, the burnt part isnt part of the toast. which is WRONG.
