I have faced a few players who resorted to spend most of their time afk after blundering in classical. they make a few moves, blunder a position and then wait 10 mins or more to make a move. maybe in hopes Iwill leave the game or something.
My proposal would be an afk question mark appearing (with a 60 seconds contdown) after 5 minutes of not making a move in classical. Not pressing it until countdown ends is a resign by default.
Well, what happens if I'm thinking about a move, and right before the question mark comes up, I realize I'm thirsty and leave to get some water? Do I deserve the loss?
@TCF_Namelecc But that's something that you can be aware of by knowing how long it takes until the notification comes up. For example if you know the question marks appears after 5 minutes and you've been thinking for 3 you know that you have 2 minutes left before you need to click something so you can plan accordingly.
@leomoraes92 That's an interesting idea but I do feel it may not help as they can just come back briefly after 5 minutes, click one button, and then leave again.
But in classical every player has the right to use their time.
For that lichess has made an option. For only classical games, if your opponent is wasting time then you can play another game. This is only possible when your time is above 20min or maybe 15min.
