yearly classical has been rigged?

So the OP's claim that points were deducted is false. More than likely he simply incorrectly read the results.
It isn't impossible that an user uses an engine in some games and not in others. So it is possible that games were removed that resulted in the player getting a lower score. I have no idea if that is actually the case here.

Lichess tournaments are supposed to be fun and we have no motivation to rig them in any way at all. We just want people to play and have fun.
Sandbaggers are removed from tournaments and their games no longer count toward the final score, that seems to be what happened here.

It should be noted that other top players in this event (Lance, Penguin) also lost points when this player was marked as a sandbagger, not just Farmville.
Thanks for the clarification. The OP simply over-reacted it appears, not knowing the full story.
Well mdinnerspace, over-reacting to posts is kinda what you are doing on a regular basis, no? but that asside :)

@lovlas: glad you replied, i am sure you understand the term "rigged" was never meant personally, but was merely used to invoke some discussion about it - imo the rules are not always honest, especially in tournament situations, is it not much simpler to just ignore the "bad people" and let the results be the results? let me give a simple example:

in the tournament a sandbagger is active
1. what you do when it is only detected AFTER the tournament? do you change the results? and what about the tournaments before that?
2. if the sandbagger is detected because people reported him and a moderator analyzed this, then this is in fact a "random" victim, because the sandbagger in games with the unknown would have a much higher chance to be reported by fans of the opposition, no?
3. if by chance you play the sandbagger 3 times in the tournament, but with 2 games he not give away the game so easy, what will you do with those games, what will you do with the time lost because the player just had bad luck that he was paired with this person 3 times?
4. the same with the cheater, like lovlas says, it is possible he not always use the engine, or in difficult situations only - you win the game vs the cheater, yet the game will be removed, again the same issues, the time spent, the chance you play him etc.

This all can affect the tournament so much, just removing the sandbagger or cheater game is just not fair if you ask me, i wonder how you all think about that? It might be the quick and easy solution, but i truly think that doing nothing with the results is actually better in those situations in the long run.

You play the yearly, which is one time per year obviously, you get bad luck by getting paired with some cheaters, you get points deducted and time wasted because of all this, affects your tournament but more important, it affects your tournament MORE than others who were not paired with this person - ok, you can turn this around and say you can be paired with a sandbagger and get easy points, but you cannot force the pairing system that you will get to play him (or not that I know of) - if proof of purposely playing the sandbagger to gain easy wins, then the player itself should be banned after investigations, but ok, i start rambling again.

Your opinions?

This may not be the appropriate place to respond to a question? Maybe there is FAQ that can be linked.
Are there guidelines, a manual or a training course that moderators are required to pass?
Navigating the FAQ's for specific questions can prove difficult. Maybe some improvements there.

Provoking discussion by exhibiting "a card" with sensational headlines, a catch all phrase with the intent to incite... That in some way justifies the action? You work for which Tabloid?
OP writes:

"3. if by chance you play the sandbagger 3 times"

This is the problem with your faulty logic.
In a swiss event, you are paired only once.
Did you not read and comprehend the Moderator? The sandbaggers games were deleted, effecting everybody equally.
@mdinnerspace: please, let us focus on the real matter and not break our heads on the minor issues that seems to bother you personally, they don't help the site. My apologies if they bother you, but let it be...
