Rapid / Blitz Team matches in lichess ?

Could lichess make it happen ? I am 100% convinced that it would be a really great thing. A team championship could be set up and a new dimension of online chess experience would be created !
What does the community think about it ? Looking forward for your point of view.
Great idea. Would be a good community building effort.
Yes I think that team tournaments are great and will be introduced sooner or later. Simply adding team options to the tournament and everybody can join the team. For examples chessbrahs against penguins - all of them fans against themselves would be great. I thought about this so long time ago when chessbrahs made that on paper while Eric asked everybody which team they belong to and counted points at the end. That was great burger day tournament. But he had to use his own pen and paper and a lot of time and counting to make this happen. That was so great that suddenly out of nowhere plenty of titled players even GM's took part after it started. So it was so good for them that they wanted to join while probably just making a glimpse of what is happening. Imaginge those matches - Kingsrusher fans against Chessnetworks, or TeamScandi against Astaneh. Or Europe against North America. Nice!
Thanks Sibro and bhirghu for your encouraging feedback !
How can we move this forward ? I'm not a programmer; who from the lichess team can tell us when such great feature will be created ...?
Or, another thought: until a solution is on its way: what could we try out with the present lichess functions ?
Hi succhess, I am not able to be very active in the coming weeks. Still like the idea and am astonished that there was not more feedback. I would recommend to keep trying to get more people involved.
Everyone can play in the same time ? The world has different time zones. This won't happen. Team matches can only be correspondence, as in chess.com but in correspondence, it is easy to cheat.
Also, it is not a great feature. What if someone is both a chessbrah fan and peng fan ? This thing is not good.
We could first play "locally" = same time zones; let it be a country or continental team championship.
It can be just some groups of people who like to play in teams together.
Then, if this is successful, the step to go global will be done and time zones will not be a barrier...
Look at e-sports and its incredible success ...
@succhess No. Consider my time zone. In Turkey, people go online once in a week or something (to this site)(not me) people generally have work or school. If they don't have both, they are probably broke and can't afford a computer with internet.
I understand. But look, you are playing on lichess. So you could also play a team match. If you are in a lichess club/team, that would participate to a rapid /team championship, there will be many players worldwide. Not everyone will be able to play at any time - sure. Such championship will for sure take its time, like real club championships, that go over a season (like chess.com dailies...).
So you will get an opportunity to play. A team match can be planned some time ahead, a calendar can be set up, starting date/time can be agreed between the teams...
Great idea Succhess. To be honest this « e-club » issue is the only regret I have toward Lichess... That would be just amazing to benefit from this feature that honestly already exists on other existing chess apps ! @ Savagechess2k : regardless the time zone, people just want to gather and play chess, it’s all about community.
