Did something happen to the Merida piece set?

There's something "off" in how the Merida piece set (top one, right column in the menu) is rendering on my machine today... I'm pretty sure yesterday it was just as usual, but now the pieces seem way too much "thicker", Black especially, and the outline is strange... Queens and Rooks are the worst offender.

Tried both on Chrome and Firefox, same result... you can see a comparison here: left is a capture done just now, right is a random screen I found online with the same pieces looking normal:



I'm not using any custom theme/injected style, just standard options

Edit: ok, i just checked out on GitHub and there has been indeed a recent commit with an "updated" piece set submitted by the author... personally, unless there's some technical/licensing issue that is forcing the update, I would kindly suggest to revert back to the original version: the new ones looks much worse

Yes, the new pieces are a lot more ugly.

Maybe they can be offered as a separate piece set, but they should definitely not replace the old one.

Yes, doesn't look right. I'd say Rooks look too thin; black pieces' gradient is distracting (plain black would be just fine); and blacks' decorations are distracting (too thick or too bright... probably too thick, since white is white, and using gray wouln't match the set).

Old set was better, maybe they weren't free to use, otherwise why change?

I agree on the new set looking much worse. Please give us at least an option to switch back to the old and classic design.
