I like playing one minute chess, but I'm not sure if it's really chess or something entirely different.
Certainly, whatever it is it utilizes chess as the background for some form of a duel between two minds, but that doesn't necessarily qualify it as chess. Chess, at least traditionally speaking, is a game of deep thought and concentration to identify certain weaknesses and strengths in certain positions within an amount of hours on both sides. One minute chess, conversely, allows for no great amounts of time to be rendered by either side, yet moves must be made...and hopefully intelligently!
I propose that one minute chess relies on instinct combined with general chess knowledge of openings etc. That makes it more of a martial arts competition rather than strictly a timed athletic competition between two minds.
Hence, I argue that one minute chess is an entirely new game that uses the game of chess as nothing more than a catalyst to duel between the intellectual instincts of two minds in order to find the superior being.
