hello friends. I have learnt all types of basic checkmates except knight+bishop ! Is it really necessary? If I want I can learn it but the main problem is it would be bit tough to remember. I have heard that you may face such situation once or twice in your lifetime or may be not. how many of you know this checkmate? raise your hands
You may well encounter it more than once or twice in blitz.
Hello! I've actually never encountered a position where I am bishop+knight+king vs. king ever, in a typical game.
However, it's not that tough to learn, and pretty easy to remember the key points to doing so.
It is fun to checkmate Stockfish 8 in BKN vs. K, but that's about it. Might be fun to show off to your friends too. Have fun learning it.

ChessNetwork has a nice tutorial, I just watched and enjoyed it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3EqM17jvOc
Agadmator has also produced a video demonstrating the KBN vs K mate: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpzbiSUx2_4
Once you've mastered the Bishop-Knight checkmate, you can show off to your friends at the bar and library :)

Sorry for advertising, but here is where I learned it the best: lichess.org/practice/checkmates/knight--bishop-mate/ByhlXnmM/D23EYigW. Great resource, even has this cool technique to follow by.
