A Puzzle That Perfectly Illustrates The Biggest Flaw of The Human Brain: The Need For Progress!

Good point, it's a really simple move and mate but I just couldn't see it. I got it wrong before I got it right. Hah
I got the puzzle but only because I had read "backward diagonal move" in a post.

But really playing a fair number of puzzles I find lots of flaws in this human brain. :(
Truth, brain feels more natural/comfortable going forward. This can be seen in hockey power skating, as the most powerful push is a backwards crossover. Most people likely don't have proper form, feel unnatural, and fear hurts performance. With proper technique and confidence, time on ice can be more than doubled with backwards skating. Chess has similarities, agility and space matter.
it's interesting what we see and don't see.

i played puzzle streak last night, and one of the middle puzzles caused me to look for almost 25 minutes before i figured it out. most of the next almost 15 were easy, between a few seconds and a couple of minutes each, even though they were all rated higher...

fwiw, this one took me almost 20 seconds. along with one other player in the thread, i might have moved my king until i realised what else could happen :)
