IRS

Hey people any of you have some in-depth knowledge on the IRS.. I mean who owns the IRS?
I believe that the rights to I.R.S. are still licensed to Guns n' Roses. If you are referring to the airline, I want to say it's owned by either Senegal or Nigeria, but don't quote me on that.
OH no... i mean the tax agency.... Internal Revenue Services... i read some articles and it said that the IRS and the Federal Reserve Bank are private....... if you have any information on that,,, i would really appreciate..
IRS is a government agency. It is part of the government, just like the FBI or Homeland Security.

However, you are correct that the Federal Reserve Bank (known as the Fed to us in the economics world) is actually separate from the government.
This is by design, though, as it means that government leaders can't manipulate the economy just to get re-elected. It's a form of checks and balances.
Hope this helps!

Phew..that's a load off my mind...how do i get to live in that particular Wonderland??
Talking theory, here. The reason that it is separate is to make sure the government can't control the economy 100%.
Don't worry, in practice, I am suuuuuuuper conservative.

Our Fed is also fiercely independent of Government.Once, just a month before a federal election, the sitting Prime Minister was giving them a really hard time to try to influence a monetary decision which would have been a wrong one,but would have made the Government look good for the election. The Reserve Bank, against all predictions, raised interest rates, which lost the election for the mob who tried to bully them. The next month (they meet monthly to determine interest rates) they dropped the prime rate back down.
That is real power.
