Turning off chat individually for every game

Platform is Linux with Chromium browser most of the time (occasionally Firefox).

I play almost exclusively 3 days / move games. Most of the games are with a real life friend and we do chat.

I have ongoing game where the opponent started to push me through the chat to make my moves as quick as if it was a rapid game. I don't really bothered myself, just turned off the chat.

The unexpected effect was that it blocks the chat in every games I play. I still would like to chat in other games.

I wish if this feature would work as follows:
- Turning feature on/off in preferences would affect every game
- Turning feature on/off in game would affect only the particular game

I believe you can already do that, by simply clicking the checkmark next to the "Chat room" tab...
@Nel_S It doesn't work like that, at least not on my platform. You thick the box and in switches chat on/off in every game ONLY.

However if you have different experience then tell your OS and Browser please, then I will test if difference is made by my setup.
@AroHar The idea probably needs a slight. alteration, AFAIK: there would need to be a separate Boolean (true/false variables) for every tournament that you and every other user have ever joined.

That many booleans could take up some storage space - so maybe as a "clean-up" aspect, the chat for a tournament defaults to your "preferences" setting as soon it is over. That way lichess wouldn't have to store all of those booleans for all time.

Still, definitely support this idea.

Thanks, for your input and your support!

I think if a tournament settings overdrives the personal ones, virtually no need for any storage. Decision can be made on priority. However, I would leave to the developers to decide how to do it, if they will ever.

But, I agree a lot of Boolean can consume a lot of storage even though it requires only 1 bit in theory.
