I would prefer to read well than read fast. I mean, what does it even mean to say you read 2800 WPM? Odds are you were skimming like a hovercraft.

I can read at 10,000 wpm and understand 0% of the text.
The world record holder Howard Stephen Berg can read at 25,000 wpm and with a comprehension rate of 90%. Like he actually understands 90% of the text. IDK how do that
The real test of rapid reading is posed by opening any chess book. I can clip along at a dazzling one game per hour, provided that coffee is available and it's not annotated by one of the really good authors. Then I slow down and savor each word.
