Be a sport and accept a takeback or two ---to before the blunder.

@Sarg0n I disagree consider the game : 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 Nf6 4. Kf1 would you accept a takeback...

@kifaru There we go again. Sawing away at the wrist in order to save some fingers.

Every player has a right to put his piece on a square where it's intended to be. This right should not come at the cost of any time deficit.

In fact, failing to allow someone to exercise this right, regardless of cause, is poor sportsmanship, and it exploits issues that are particular to online chess.

Those that argue that this is acceptable conduct...are in the EXACT same "if you can do it, it's legal" mindset, as those that use computer assistance.

In fact, let me ask these misers..."Why is engine assistance 'WRONG'?"

Everyone should just call it fair play, right?

If you can do it, it's legal, right?

Everyone should have the good sportsmanship and strong character to accept this as tolerable conduct, right?

*****Morals, ethics, empathy, sportsmanship, and good character have no place on the chess board, or in the online chess community right? It's all about the W/L, it's all about the points, RIGHT?*****

An exerpt:

"Chess is the only debate forum where objective-reality, where fact, where truth, rule the kingdom, with an absolute, persistent, mathematical, mechanical, integrity.

Chess is the only spot, where lying, hypocrisy, complacency, double-standards, lack of empathy, and every other disgusting terrorist tendency, is proven, brought to light, and fatally punished.

It's unfortunate that when I close my board, I enter a world, where at gunpoint, these traits are, instead, rewarded.

The Chessboard is a hallowed, sacred, and godly realm. It is the sport of the civilized."

I propose a new unwritten rule of chess sportsmanship. If you ask for a takeback in a game, and your opponent grants it, you should offer a draw if you get into a winning position.
In casual games I don’t accept any takeback. I don’t like tackebacks. In my opinion accept tackebacks and sportmanship are totally diferent things.

I can’t imagine a casual game of soccer using a “takeback” because one team fail a penalty o because the goalkeper make a mistake and this finish in a goal.
Multiple takebacks before the blunder XD

If anyone actually agrees with the troll here's my 2 cents.
Where is the logic in expecting your opponent to grant take backs when you're both competing to Win? I can understand someone being nice on an obvious misclick, other than that, it's on you.

Also, if this is the case, then where do you draw the line on takebacks? It'd then be a never ending cycle of takebacks everytime you see a disadvantage.

I disabled mine so I'm not burdened.

Did Muhammad Ali ask Joe Frazier for a take-back in Madison Square Garden in 1971?
Did Bobby Fischer ask Spassky for a take-back after playing 29. ... , Bxh2 ?

I play as a guest on my mobile unrated games. I like lichess app for quick pairings.

There is no "guest" play at lichess.
The OP played 2 games, made this thread and disappeared.
Got quite the attention, but it seems a new name was in order.

Yes there is 'guest' play. Download the app on an Android smartphone and start a match without signing-in.
Oh yeah, and Hi. I'm still here.

The point remains. If you are on the receiving-end of a takeback request --not one of clearly a mis-click (which I agree should be accepted with no detest) but the kind described mby me in this thread--- why not accept it? In apractice round, worse case scenario is you give your opponent a better position-- so? Isn't that good for practice? Just take comfort knowing you played better for at least a few turns and accept the takeback so as not toderail the round into an easy win (what fun is no challenge?).

To the person who suggested the person who requested takeback should offer draw upon raching a winning position--- everything else being equal, that is a reasonable approach. If it is an exciting round then the other player ideally would ignore request and continue playing (for win or eventual draw, or loss if bested--- this is stil concerning a *casual* unrated round, after all).
