I noticed the tournament chat is now even visible in-game. I see no use for this at all except for helping players when they're in-game, which is obviously not a good thing. I'd suggest reverting this change unless there's some really good reason not to.

You can hide the chat if you find it distracting.
Next time you play a tourney game, click the "Standings" tab. Your choice is remembered and you'll only see standings.

it doesn't hurt you, and you can always report someone for cheating, so I don't see the problem
Some people like me like being able to chat/see chat at all times instead of having to wait until my game is finished

Agree with penguin. To that end, I find that often I'm typing out a response when my game starts, but the message doesn't save in the box. I would like the response to carry through so I can finish typing it quickly before the game starts and hit send.
I don't agree with your opponent calling your mum a wh**e midgame but I'll defend their right to say it.
I also like the new chat funktion while games in a tournament.
Of course it's quiet useless in short games when you don't have the time to type something, between the moves. But I think it could be cool and a lot of fun, when you play a longer game and you are bored when your opponent is thinking :D
(Of course this shouldn't mean you shouldn't concentrate on the game while your opponent is thinking, but it's nice to have the possibillity to do something else ;) )
