What do you think about this news ?

Protests are expected again in Iraq after demonstrators set fire to trailers belonging to Iran’s consulate in Karbala as anger spread over the killing of a prominent activist in the southern city.

Ihab Jawad al-Wazni, who was active in the organisation of the anti-government protests that swept Iraq in October 2019, was shot dead on Sunday outside his home by unknown assailants. His death sparked daylong protests in Karbala that saw demonstrators block roads and bridges with burning tyres.

An Iraqi journalist, meanwhile, was in intensive care after being shot in the head early on Monday, doctors said, only 24 hours after al-Wazni was killed.
It's scary. Iran and Iraq fought an eight-year war in the 80s that cost, according to data that cost roughly one million lives, including around 150 thousand civilians. The conflict used tactics reminiscent of WWI, with trench warfare and chemical weapons being deployed. I'd prefer that the world not experience a sequel.
source for that data was wikipedia. Don't know what happened with the above post, but I am positive I typed it.
That is really sad and scary for citizens and people fighting. Before I leave this forum, I need to tell you guys that there is something new called The Black Fungus! Can you believe it?!
I'm not worried about Iran directly starting hostilities; it looks as if Iranian backed militias were behind the killing of al-Wazni, and unrest isn't exactly anathema for these militias - or for Iran, for that matter.

Iranian influence continues to grow by leaps and bounds in Iraq, and a little backlash against a consulate is a small price to pay for silencing a critic.

The BBC reported that there've been 89 attacks against activists, journalists, etc since October 2019. This is troubling for those living in Iraq, and I think it helps solidify Shia rule in Iraq, but I don't think it risks a greater conflagaration.

Just my two cents, and I admit the Middle East isn't my strongest bailiwick but I do try to keep current.
Combat tour Iraq after the 80's. How knowledge of boo/chem mAsKs work, and how they do not. Biological/Chemical weapons always a concern, it's a Science. Like Nukes and Economics. Objective Sciences.
