Changing preferences mid game

hi, I was wondering: during a rated game, are you able to change your preferences without getting flagged ? eg, I have move confirmation turned on and decide to play a blitz game and forget to turn it off before the game. Can I change it during the game?

Is there a correct way to do it, and a wrong way to do it ? ie open a new tab, new window or go to straight to preferences and then browser back button back to the game ?

I don't want to get flagged for possible cheating during a game.
