Only 1% of chess games is won by tactics some say.

A blunderfest game that I lost, but full of tactics \o/
And combine that with a long king walk, and it might be pop corn time. (5 0 game, 3/9/2, 53 acpl).
Was kinda frustrating actually. Game was really interesting, wanted to see the end of it....
"Chess is 99% tactics" is the famous quote. Even at the highest levels, the tactics account for 90% of the game. (?Fine's adjustment of Reinfeld's quote?)
The game is won by black after 54...Nf2+
Spielmann was the guy with 99% tactics.

Good „positional“ play is founded on small tactical details. Ask Jussupow and Dvoretzky.
Tactics do not come from nowhere. Tactics result from superior strategy.

Computers don‘t know that - that’s why the find „random“ tactics and prevail. No chance for humans. Computers prove that chess is not 99% tactics but even much more.
Looking at Carlsen games it seems chess is 90% endgame technique...
Sure, he is probably one of the best calculators on earth.
chess is 50% tactics and 50% technique. The other 50% is preparation
