New board themes and piece sets?

Hello everyone,

Don't you think it would be cool for lichess to have new piece sets and board themes? The current ones are okay but I feel like there is room for expansion.

I have seen this link posted before. Can you or someone else clarify how to make use of it? It looks like I have the option to "Install with Stylish", install the style as a userscript or somehow make use of CSS but it's not clear how those options interface with lichess.org. Once installed, are additional piecesets and boards saved as website data within my browser or server side?

I also assume it's possible for me to create my own piecesets on stylish. Is there an FAQ or howto page on doing that? My guess is I would use something like Illustrator or Inkscape to create the pieces, wrap them in some sort of format and upload to Stylish?
